Where to look in India
Use different sources for different questions. Industrial-development agencies can describe a park or corridor. A company announcement may identify a proposed investment. A procurement notice can define a specific package. None of these, alone, is a complete sales opportunity.
- NICDC’s industrial corridor programme provides a starting point for industrial areas and manufacturing clusters. Check the date and the stage of the individual project.
- Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation is a state-level source for industrial-development context. Distinguish an agency development from an individual factory investment.
- India Investment Grid is another starting point for investment opportunities. Confirm promoter details and current status with the originating source.
- TenderDetail and other tender services can help locate procurement notices. Read the original notice and qualification requirements before acting.
A dated example of source interpretation
The NICDC programme page, marked last updated 5 August 2025, lists the following under its new-project category. These examples show how to read a source. They do not establish construction activity as of today.
| Public project reference | Location | What still needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| Palakkad industrial node | Kerala | Current implementation and procurement status |
| IMC Gaya | Bihar | Current activity and package responsibility |
| Dighi Port Industrial Area | Maharashtra | Scope, recent progress and relevant contracts |

Make a shortlist your team can use
- Define the territory and project type. Avoid mixing an industrial park with every factory that may later occupy it.
- Capture the original source, publication date and exact status wording.
- Resolve the promoter, location and project identity across sources to avoid duplicate records.
- Check for a later update before assuming the project is still upcoming.
- Map the possible supplier fit and specify the confirmation needed before outreach.
For state and city research, add a source owner and review date. A page containing many old announcements can look comprehensive while being a poor guide to current procurement.
From a source list to an intelligence pilot
